Rheology of Titania Based Ceramic Nanodispersions Stabilized by Cationic Comb Copolymers

چکیده
Rheological studies of the ceramic based concentrated titania nanoparticle dispersions showed a clear correlation between molecular structure of the cationic polymers used as dispersants and the viscosity of the slurries. Dynamic viscosity of the electrostatically stabilized alkaline (pH 10.0) dispersions of the bare titania nanopowders with a solid loading of 15 – 25 wt.% was rather high (about 1 Pa·s) and the dispersions exhibited shear-thinning flow behavior. For electrostatic and steric stabilization of the concentrated ceramic nanodispersions of titania in alkaline conditions, the dispersions were treated with cationic comb copolymers differing in charge density and the length of PEO side chains. The dispersions treated by the cationic comb copolymers acted as the Newtonian fluids at low and medium shear rates (< 200 s-1) and showed shear-thickening flow behavior at higher shear rates. Dynamic viscosity of the dispersions with a solid loading of 15 – 25 wt.% treated by the cationic comb copolymers was very low (2 to 30 mPa·s).

DNA assembly and re-assembly activated by cationic comb-type copolymer.
Guanine-rich oligonucleotides, such as TG(4)T and TG(5)T, assemble into a tetramolecular quadruplexes with layers of G-quartets stabilized by coordination to monovalent cations. Association rates of the quadruplexes are extremely slow, likely owing to electrostatic repulsion among the four strands. We have shown that comb-type copolymers with a polycation backbone and abundant hydrophilic graft...

We have previously reported that poly(l-lysine)-graft-dextran cationic comb-type copolymers accelerate strand exchange reaction between duplex DNA and its complementary single strand by >4 orders of magnitude, while stabilizing duplex. However, the stabilization of the duplex is considered principally unfavourable for the accelerating activity since the strand exchange reaction requires, at lea...

Titania is one of the most important white pigments currently used in the world with a total annual production of about 6 million [1]. Titania pigment slurry properties are very important for consumer industries such as paints, papermaking and plastics; if aggregates are present, the end-use properties including gloss, brightness, colour hue, opacity and storage stability will be highly affecte...

One of the ways to improve the performance of ceramic insulators in polluted climates is to use polymer coatings reinforced with ceramic particles. The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of adding Titania nanoparticles and Titania micro-nanoparticles on hydrophobic properties of PU. In this method, stearic acid, which is a cheap and environmentally friendly material, was used for su...

The effects of six different polyglycerol esters of fatty acids (PGEs) as nonionic emulsi fiers on the physicochemical properties and stability of β-carotene nanoparticles in oil-in-water dispersions prepared by solvent displacement technique were investigated. The β-carotene particle size was measured by a laser diffraction technique, and the stability and retention of β-carotene during storag...
